King's Secret

Everything in this one is arranged like an altarpiece: two swords standing upright behind the shoulders, a crown, a cross at the throat, and a burning eye directly above the head. Then the face refuses the arrangement. The eyes have rolled back to white, so the one figure who should be presiding over all this ceremony is the only one not looking at it.

The skull is held the way you would hold something you had been given rather than something you had taken. That is the secret, as far as I can put it. The crown and the swords are the public half, and the thing actually being carried is private and a good deal heavier.
